Cocaine, weapon seized during arrest of wanted Port Elgin man

A Port Elgin man wanted for robbery has been arrested by Saugeen Shores police.

Earlier this week, officers were out on general patrol when they spotted a man they knew to have an outstanding warrant for robbery. The man initially resisted arrest before being successfully taken into custody, police said in a statement on Thursday.

A large quantity of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and cash were seized during the arrest. A prohibited weapon was also found in the man's waist band, police said.

A 38-year-old Port Elgin man is charged with robbery, resisting arrest, possession of drugs, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited device, failure to comply release order, and failure to comply with probation order.

The man has appeared in court in relation to the charges and was remanded into custody.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
