Charges laid following break-and-enter at local YMCA

Huron County OPP have charged one person following a break-and-enter at the Goderich YMCA.

At 12:20 a.m. on March 10, police say an individual used a car to ram the front doors of the YMCA building located on Suncoast Drive East in Goderich.

The driver made numerous attempts to ram the doors and eventually broke inside the building. Once inside the YMCA, the suspect made attempts to gain access to numerous areas of the facility before leaving and driving off in the same vehicle they used to ram open the doors.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect, and they were located and arrested later that same day.

As a result, a 59-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with break-and-enter, mischief under $5,000, dangerous operation and fail to stop after accident.

The accused was processed and later released with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on April 14th, 2025.
