One person arrested after misuse of 911 emergency line, assault of officers

Huron County OPP arrested and charged a South Huron man after a recent incident involving the misuse of the 911 emergency line and alleged assault of officers.

On March 8 just after 10 a.m., police were called to investigate a series of 911 calls made to police by an individual who was misusing the emergency phone line.

Officers arrived and spoke to the individual who was charged with public mischief and arrested. During the arrest, police allege that the individual resisted arrest and assaulted three officers.

As a result, a 44-year-old man from South Huron has been charged with public mischief, three counts of assault a peace officer and resist peace officer.

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich, where they were later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 7, 2025.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
