Suspect arrested following theft

Huron County OPP have arrested and charged one person from South Huron following a recent theft.

On March 3, police received a report from a victim that claimed there had been a theft from a property in Exeter on February 28.

A suspect was captured on video surveillance and investigators were able to identify them.

Police located and arrested the suspect on March 4 and the stolen property was returned to the owner.

As a result, a 26-year-old from South Huron has been charged with theft under $5,000, trespassing by night, and failure to comply with a probation and release order.

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were later remanded into custody with a pending court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
