Update: Maitland Valley Conservation downgrades flood watch

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is replacing a Flood Watch with a Watershed Conditions Statement.

This is because the amount of rain this weekend was lower than what was being forecasted. Also, overnight temperatures are expected to be below freezing.

The statement still applies to all municipalities in the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds. It means that flooding is possible but not likely.

The conservation authority is still recommending municipal officials check drainage systems, monitor low-lying and flood prone roads, and prepare for road closures.

Maitland Conservation will provide an update when conditions change.
