Bruce County has proudly recognized two remarkable individuals, Muriel Shular and Owen Riegling, as recipients of the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal.
The awards were presented during a special ceremony at Bruce County Council Chambers Thursday, celebrating their exceptional contributions to the community.
The medal, created to commemorate His Majesty’s coronation, acknowledges Canadians who have made significant impacts.
Warden Luke Charbonneau, alongside Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, presented the medals and separate certificates of recognition to the honourees.
Muriel Shular was recognized for her outstanding dedication as a volunteer at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre. Over the past seven years, she has contributed more than 700 volunteer hours, supporting children’s programs, community outreach, and special events.
Owen Riegling of Mildmay, a rising star in Canadian country music, received the medal for his impressive achievements in the music industry. His career accolades include multiple Canadian Country Music Association awards and a Juno Award nomination for Breakout Artist of the Year in 2025.
“Muriel and Owen embody the spirit of service and excellence that makes Bruce County so special,” said Charbonneau. “Muriel’s dedication to preserving and sharing our local history, and Owen’s incredible success in Canadian country music, are both inspiring examples of the impact our residents have, locally and beyond. It is an honour to recognize them today.”
