Saugeen Shores police were called to the unnamed hotel earlier this month.

Investigators determined a man attacked a woman who he was under a court order not to be anywhere near due to a previous intimate partner assault, police said.

The woman suffered serious, potentially life-altering injuries in the attack. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

He appeared for a bail hearing where he was remanded into custody.
