The date has been confirmed for the 35th Ausable Bayfield Conservation Auction, which moves to an online format this year from Monday, May 12, at 8 a.m. to Thursday, May 15, at 8 p.m.
Hosted by the Conservation Auction Committee on the Zeffy.com platform, this virtual event will offer four days of bidding on a variety of items in support of local community projects.

Low ticket sales to the annual dinner and auction meant the auction was moved to an online format this year, similar to events held during COVID-19. Chris Keller, the 2025 Conservation Auction Committee Chair and member of the Exeter Lions Club, highlighted the benefits of the extended online format.
“Even though we won’t be hosting the auction in person this year, the online auction will be a lot of fun,” Keller said. “There are going to be many wonderful items to bid on, and it’s a fantastic way to make a positive difference for your community.”
The Conservation Auction has raised over $1.39 million since its inception, supporting a wide range of local initiatives. Proceeds are split evenly between the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation and the Exeter Lions Club. Funds support community projects, including park and trail development, outdoor recreation programs for youth and families, conservation education, and employment opportunities for young people. Meantime, the 50-50 draw will proceed, as scheduled, on Thursday, April 3, 2024, at South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter. The drawing takes place at 8 p.m. The $10. tickets should be purchased before April 3. There are only 1,000 tickets printed, and the cash prize could be as high as $5,000 if all tickets are sold. Ticket buyers can buy their tickets from any Exeter Lions Club or Conservation Auction Committee member.
