Wellington County closes numerous facilities early due to ice/freezing rain storm

Wellington County closed a number of county-run facilities early Wednesday afternoon as a result of the ice and freezing rain storm that swept across Midwestern Ontario.

According to a media release from county staff, as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the following facilities closed early:

• County Administration Centre

• Wellington County Museum and Archives

• Wellington County Libraries

• County Child Care and Learning Centres (parents are asked to pick up children as soon as possible)

• All Social Services Offices

• Solid Waste Services Sites

• Green Legacy Tree Nurseries

Additionally, the Ride Well Rural Transit Service was expected to experience delays or interruptions to service.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
