Cocaine seized during Kincardine traffic stop

A 45-year-old driver is facing charges after a traffic stop in the Municipality of Kincardine turned up a quantity of cocaine.

South Bruce OPP stopped a vehicle on Highway 21 just after 6 p.m. last Tuesday. The officer detected signs of impairment while speaking with the driver, police said.

The driver was arrested and taken to the local detachment for further testing.

Approximately 40g of suspected cocaine was seized.

The following day, police search a home in the Municipality of Kincardine in relation to the initial traffic stop. The search turned up suspected illicit drugs and prohibited weapons. Police did not detail what type of drugs or weapons were seized.

A 45-year-old Kincardine man is charged with impaired driving, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of drugs, possession of a prohibited device, careless driving, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

The man appeared for a bail hearing where he was remanded into custody, police said.
