Stratford man wins a million dollars

A Stratford man is a million dollars richer after matching all seven Encore numbers in a recent Lotto Max draw.

Vasile Racolta won his $1 million prize in the March 14 draw.

The father of two and grandfather of one, has been a long-time lottery player with OLG, but this represents his first big win.

"I was at home when I discovered I’d won," said Racolta, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. "I remained quiet and calm. When I told my sons the news, they were very happy, but jokingly said, 'Dad, this isn’t enough!' We all shared a good laugh."

Racolta looks forward to sharing his prize with his family and purchasing a home.

The winning ticket was purchased at Little Short Stop on Saginaw Parkway in Cambridge.
