Grey Bruce OPP and other detachments lay hundreds of seatbelt charges during safety campaign

The Grey Bruce OPP laid over a hundred seatbelt charges during the Easter Long Weekend Seatbelt Campaign.

According to a media release, Grey Bruce OPP officers laid 132 tickets for people in vehicles that were in violation of Ontario's seatbelt laws from April 18-21.

Police say lack of seatbelt use is a leading contributing factor to death, injuries, and property damage on local roads.

Many local police and OPP detachments took part in the long weekend safety blitz around the province.

That included the Wellington County OPP, who laid over 25 cellphone-related distracted driving charges, over 80 seatbelt charges and over 60 other charges during its campaign.
