Charges laid in New Year's Day fatal collision

A 25-year-old North Huron man has been charged in a collision that claimed the life of Central Huron resident on New Year's Day.

On January 1, 2025, around 1:30 p.m., Huron County OPP responded to a collision involving an SUV and a truck hauling a cattle trailer on Blyth Road near Hensall Road in Huron East.

The lone driver of the truck, a 32-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second driver was not injured.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the collision investigation.

On April 8, police formally charged the 25-year-old with dangerous driving causing death.

The accused was processed and later released with a court appearance set for next month in Goderich.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
