Motorcyclist seriously hurt in crash near Atwood

One person had to be airlifted to hospital after a serious crash involving a motorcycle northeast of Atwood.

Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle collision on Perth Line 77 between Highway 23 and Road 158 in North Perth shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The 29-year-old man who had been driving the motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital by Ornge Air Ambulance for treatment. Police did not provide an update about the man's condition on Monday.

The crash kept Perth Line 77 closed for several hours while the West Region OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team was on scene. It has since reopened. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Perth OPP said.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
