Bruce Power has donated $150,000 to the Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation, money that will go toward the purchase of a new CT scanner.
The Owen Sound CT scanner was installed a decade ago, and the foundation is trying to raise $4 million to replace the unit, noting its critical to have an operating functional scanner as the regional stroke centre.

The new CT scanner will provide our health-care team with access to the advanced tools they need to deliver the highest standard of diagnostic care to patients across the region."
More than 16,000 CT (computed tomography) procedures are performed annually at Brightshores Health System. CT scanners are a vital diagnostic tool used to provide detailed images of the body, enabling physicians to quickly and accurately diagnose strokes, cancers, internal injuries, infections and many other conditions.

A second CT scanner operated by Brightshores is located at its Southampton Hospital.
