High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Huron County OPP have laid charges in a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://cknxnewstoday.ca/midwestern/news/2023/04/21/theft-30000-chicks-leaves-south-huron-farm-42000">2023 case</a> involving the reported theft of 45,000 chicks from a South Huron farm.And the charges have been laid against the farmer who reported the theft.Initially, 30,000 chicks were believed to have been stolen overnight on April 19–20, 2023, but that figure was later revised. The loss was valued at over $139,000.Following a lengthy investigation, police charged a 41-year-old from South Huron with fraud over $5,000 and public mischief. They were arrested May 6, 2025 and released with a court date in Goderich set for May 26.
