Emergency preparedness funding for Town of Minto

The Town of Minto is getting just shy of $50,000 for emergency equipment for the Palmerston and District Community Centre.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced the funding of $48,000 is coming to the Town of Minto through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant on May 13.

The funds will be used to purchase and install a standby generator, transfer switch, and concrete pad for the Palmerston and District Community centre.

According to the media release from Rae's office, the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant "strengthens emergency preparedness by funding local emergency management training, purchasing critical equipment, and improving infrastructure to make communities more resilient."

"This provincial funding helps ensure our communities are safe and prepared for any situation," said MPP Rae. "Whether it be once-in-a-decade snowfall like we had this winter, flooding, or any number of unforeseen disasters, we know that we have measures in place to protect our communities."
