High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A 30-year-old from Perth East has died as a result of injuries suffered in a recent crash while riding an e-bike.Perth County OPP shared via "X", formerly Twitter, that officers and emergency services responded on May 15 around 10 p.m. to a collision involving an e-bike on Perth Line 42 that lost control.The lone rider, a 30-year-old Perth East resident, was transported by air ambulance to a local trauma centre where they later succumbed to their injuries.Police continue to investigate the collision. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any dash cam footage to contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
