Stratford Police say cemetery thefts continuing

A week after issuing a notice about thefts and vandalism at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford Police say more incidents have been reported.

According to police, since May 28, several bronze plaques, a bronze statue and a bronze lantern have been reported stolen. Police say it's unclear when the thefts occurred.

One item of significance that was taken was a 30-inch by 40-inch bronze plaque, consisting of 40 to 45 smaller plagues.

Police are asking those who care for a site at Avondale Cemetery to check and see if anything was stolen and report any missing items immediately.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Stratford Police at 519-271-4141.
