High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Police have found a vehicle believed to have caused a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://cknxnewstoday.ca/midwestern/news/2025/06/12/driver-urged-to-turn-self-in-after-pedestrian-fatally-struck-in-hanover">fatal hit-and-run</a> in Hanover.At around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, a 66-year-old woman was hit while crossing 7th Avenue. She later died from her injuries in the hospital.A 2007 red PT Cruiser was reportedly the vehicle that hit the woman. It was found on Saturday, destroyed by a fire in a bush lot on Sideroad 25 in the former Brant Township north of Morry's Trailer Sales.Hanover police are asking anyone in the area who may have seen the vehicle or smoke from the fire to contact them at 519.364.2411. Police are also urging the driver of the vehicle to turn themselves in.
