UPDATE: Crash in Arthur sends driver to hospital, road re-opens

A two-vehicle crash in Arthur that closed part of Highway 6 has resulted in charges against one of the drivers, with the other driver sent to hospital.

The Wellington County OPP confirmed via "X", formerly Twitter, that a two-vehicle crash closed Highway 6 between Preston Street North and Conestoga Street North.

Police responded alongside Wellington North Fire Department and local EMS to the crash at 7 a.m.

The OPP have confirmed that one driver was taken into custody, and another driver was taken to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The highway was re-opened just after noon.

A 25-year-old from Conn has been charged with driving while impaired, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, fail to remain, operation while prohibited and driving a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 18. Their license has been suspended 90 days and their vehicle impounded for 45 days.
