False assault claim leads to theft charges in Kincardine

South Bruce OPP have laid charges after investigating a false assault report at a business in Kincardine.

Police were called on June 14, 2025 after a person claimed they had been assaulted by a store employee. However, a review of security footage revealed no assault took place, and that the complainant had instead stolen from the business.

As a result, a 22-year-old from Kincardine has been charged with public mischief and theft under $5,000. They're scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton on August 27.
