OPP investigating 'suspicious' fire in Collingwood

Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP are investigating what police are calling a "suspicious fire" in Collingwood.

On July 7 just after 3 a.m., police responded alongside the Collingwood Fire Department to an active fire at a business located on Sandford Fleming Drive.

Initial reports found that the fire started in a storage shed in the northeast corner of the property. At the time, the blaze was not deemed suspicious.

However, later that morning just after 7 a.m., fire officials discovered surveillance footage that "raised concerns about the cause of the fire," according to a media release from the OPP. The incident is now being treated as suspicious.

The damage to the property is $1 million and the Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been notified. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
