Bruce County Council has announced the recipients of its 2025 Community Grants program, reaffirming its support for local not-for-profit organizations that contribute to the well-being, culture, and economic vitality of the region.
During budget deliberations earlier this year, Council approved $20,000 in funding to be allocated to community initiatives. The program, guided by the County’s Community Grant Policy, provides financial assistance to groups and organizations for projects that enhance and enrich Bruce County.
Applications for the grants were reviewed by a panel of County staff, with allocations determined based on established evaluation criteria. The funding highlights the County’s ongoing commitment to grassroots projects and social programs that make a tangible difference in local communities.
"The County’s Community Grant Policy provides the opportunity to provide funding to eligible not-for-profit groups or organizations for initiatives that align with economic prosperity and innovation; cultural enhancements and diversity; and general social enrichment programs or events,” said Linda White, Bruce County Clerk, in the report to Council. “Community grants are available to groups or organizations that make financial requests that are not accommodated through other departmental programs."
Grants of $1,000 were given to CMHA Grey Bruce, Formosa Country Christmas, Kincardine Pride and Port Elgin Pumpkinfest. Teeswater Lawn Bowling Club, Walkerton Golf and Curling Club, and the YMCA of Owen Sound and Grey Bruce each receive $2,000. Pine River Watershed Initiative and Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village were allocated $3,000. And Women’s House Serving Grey and Bruce was awarded $4,000.
Additionally, staff are currently reviewing the Community Grant Program and funding model to ensure it continues to meet the evolving needs of the community. Recommendations for potential updates are expected ahead of the 2026 budget cycle.
