Huron Hospice ready to host 9th annual butterfly release

Huron Hospice is set to host its 9th annual butterfly release event next month.

The popular event will take place on Sunday, August 24 in the gardens at Bender House.

The event began as a way for people to remember and celebrate the memories of loved ones through the symbolic release of butterflies.

A commemorative ceremony will take place with the names of loved ones who are being remembered read aloud. Participants may choose to release their butterflies during the event or at a special place of personal significance.

Funds raised from the event go directly towards hospice palliative care, grief, and bereavement services for families across Huron County.

Butterflies can be purchased for $40 each by visiting www.huronhospice.ca/butterfly-release.

Orders can also be placed by contacting Kaitlyn Mathers at kaitlyn.mathers@huronhospice.ca. The deadline to order is August 15.
