Homeowner attacked with bat during West Perth break-in

A Mitchell man is facing charges after a break and enter in West Perth that saw a homeowner assaulted with a baseball bat.

Perth OPP began investigating the incident last Saturday. Officers determined a person had broken into a home in the municipality and attacked the homeowner with the weapon.

Injuries were minor, police said.

A 27-year-old man from Mitchell is charged with breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, and two counts of failure to comply with probation order. He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in Stratford court on July 25.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
