Update: Two Huron County beaches still unsafe for swimming

Huron Perth Public Health's Inspection team says there are two beaches in Huron County that are unsafe for swimming following retesting.

As of Saturday, a no-swim advisory was lifted Goderich St. Christophers Beach.

However, one remains in place for Ashfield Township Park and Goderich Main Beach.

Samples taken on July 23 showed higher than allowable bacteria for Ontario health standards. Waters were resampled on July 25, and results showed that two of the beaches still don't meet the standard.

People should avoid swimming and keep children and pets away from the water or risk bacteria that may cause diarrhea or infections of the ears, nose, throat, eyes, and skin.
