Escaped inmate from Quebec with ties to Midwestern Ontario arrested in Montreal

An escaped Quebec convict with ties to Midwestern Ontario has been arrested in Montreal.

On July 6, the OPP were informed that a prisoner at the Archambault Incarceration Centre in Quebec has escaped. The prisoner, 69-year-old Lory Bill Germa, was convicted in 1992 of murder and had been in prison since then.

Germa was described as having possible community ties to midwestern Ontario, specifically Bruce County and the Hanover area. In the interest of public safety, South Bruce OPP informed the public to be on alert for possible sightings of Germa.

On July 29, the OPP were informed that Germa had been apprehended in Montreal.

All public safety alerts related to Germa's escape have now been lifted.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
