Possible measles exposure at Seaforth Hospital

Huron Perth Public Health is warning the Huron East community of a new measles exposure at the local hospital.

The Health Unit says the exposure occurred Monday in the Seaforth Community Hospital emergency department waiting room and outpatient imaging.

Anyone who was there between 12:10 and 2:15 p.m. on July 28 is asked to monitor for measles signs and symptoms for 21 days after exposure.

HPPH says you can complete a measles exposure self-assessment by visiting their website.

Since spiking in late April and early May, newly reported measles cases have sharply trended down in Ontario. Still, a large share of new cases continue to be located in Huron-Perth.

The latest measles figures in the province will be released Thursday afternoon.
