Charges laid following break-and-enter investigation in Southgate

Grey Bruce OPP arrested and charged a West Grey man following an investigation into a break-and-enter theft at a Southgate business.

On June 5, early in the morning, police say a break-in occurred at a restaurant located on Highway 6. A suspect gained entry to the business and damaged property and stole numerous items. Police were contacted the next day when the business opened.

In partnership with West Grey Police Service, Grey Bruce OPP were able to connect a suspect linked to a second break and enter in the Municipality of West Grey that happened shortly after the Southgate incident. The suspect was located and arrested by West Grey Police Service on June 10.

On August 6, a 37-year-old man from West Grey was arrested and charged by Grey Bruce OPP for numerous offences including break-and-enter, mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, disguise with intent and more.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 27.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
