Drug trafficking investigation across multiple counties leads to arrests

A drug trafficking investigation that spanned multiple counties has resulted in the arrest of two Guelph men.

According to the Wellington County OPP, on August 7, police arrested two individuals on 2 Line East, as a part of an ongoing drug investigation.

A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, Canadian currency, cellular telephones, and various drug-related paraphernalia.

Total value of items and cash seized is estimated to be over $7,000.

The investigation was led by the Wellington County OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), and assisted by the Huron, Perth and Grey Bruce OPP CSCUs, as well.

As a result, a 34-year-old and 30-year-old from Guelph are facing charges related to trafficking.

One of the accused was held pending a bail hearing while the other was released and has a court date set for September 9 in Guelph.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
