Child expected to recover after being injured in farm accident

A young child is expected to fully recover following an accident on a farm in West Perth.

According to Perth County OPP, on August 11, OPP officers and local EMS crews responded to a report of a 12-year-old child that was struck by a farming implement and required medical attention in West Perth.

The child was taken by local first responders to a local trauma centre where luckily the child's injuries were deemed non-life threatening. The child is expected to be released from hospital today.

Perth County OPP and EMS crews are reminding everyone to be extremely cautious on farms, especially around heavy equipment.

Having basic life saving equipment on hand can help possibly save a life. These items may include a first aid kit, tourniquet, emergency blanket, a flashlight, a cell phone and personal protective equipment.
