Charges laid after dog assaulted in Bluewater

Huron County OPP arrested and charged one person following an assault against a dog in Bluewater.

According to police, on July 2, officers responded to a reported assault in the Municipality of Bluewater.

Their investigation led them to determine that a suspect allegedly hit the dog with a cane and attempted to assault the dog's owner.

An 85-year-old Bluewater resident was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

The accused was later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
