Giant Red Chair Tour features fun stops in Central Huron

The Municipality of Central Huron is celebrating a creative tourism project made possible through support from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) Municipal Contribution Agreement.

The Giant Chair Tour features nine oversized red Adirondack chairs placed at key landmarks across Central Huron, including heritage sites, public art installations, and scenic locations. Designed to promote tourism and community pride, the chairs have become popular selfie spots for locals and visitors alike.

“Projects like the Giant Chair Tour bring people together and encourage them to discover the places and stories that make Central Huron special,” said Angela Smith, Community Improvement Coordinator. “Thanks to OLG’s continued support, we were able to enhance our community in a way that’s fun, accessible, and boosts local pride.”

“OLG’s contributions allow us to think creatively about how we grow our community," Mayor Jim Ginn added. "The Giant Chair Tour is a great example of how we can turn funding into something fun, family-friendly, and meaningful for both residents and visitors.”

To encourage participation, the municipality is running a $50 gift card promotion. Anyone who visits all nine chairs, takes photos at each location, and submits their completed form at www.tourismcentralhuron.ca/giant-chair-tour is eligible for a local gift card while supplies last.

Since 2000, OLG has provided over $14 million to Central Huron through its host community program.

Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager, said OLG is proud to be a vital part of the Municipality of Central Huron.

"For the last 50 years, since the organization’s start in 1975, 100 per cent of OLG profits are always reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities," she pointed out. "From critical infrastructure to important local programs, to community festivals and community grant programs, OLG’s profits are hard at work in Central Huron and all across our province to build stronger communities. We also appreciate the contribution of gaming employees at Gateway Casinos Clinton who are making life in Central Huron that much better. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario.”
