North Huron man charged in July hit-and-run that injured three

Charges have been laid in a hit-and-run crash north of Wingham last month that left three people hurt.

Two vehicles collided at Howick-Turnberry Road and London Road just before 1 p.m. on July 5. After the crash, one of the vehicles took off. A Huron OPP officer attempted to stop it, but it continued on. The suspect vehicle was later found damaged and abandoned in a bush lot.

Three people in the vehicle that remained at the scene of the collision were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Through investigation, police identified a suspect and made an arrest.

On Thursday, police announced a 35-year-old North Huron man has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving and failure to stop after a crash, and one count of flight from police. Several Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges were also laid against the man, police said.

The man has been remanded into custody and has a future court appearance scheduled at the Goderich courthouse.
