Health Unit seeks owners of Meaford dog

Grey Bruce Public Health is asking for help tracking down the owners of a dog that was involved in a biting incident on Thursday in Meaford.

According to the Health Unit, a between 7:30 and 8 p.m. on August 14, a man was bitten by a white dog that resembled a Terrier, with black ears and black markings around the eyes.

The incident happened along the walkway on Bayfield Street in Meaford.

The Health Unit says the dog’s owner is described as a middle-aged woman of average height with brown shoulder length hair. She had just taken a couple of pictures of the dog, while it was sitting on a big rock.

GBPH says it needs to confirm the dog is not infectious with the rabies virus so the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
