Brockton and other municipalities lift partial burn bans following recent rain

The Municipality of Brockton has lifted the partial burn ban that had been in place.

On August 11, Brockton put the burn ban in place following very dry, hot weather with very little precipitation in the area.

The burn ban is now lifted as of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Agricultural, brush, and derelict building burn permits can now resume. Recreational fires for cooking and warmth can also continue, in compliance with Brockton’s Open Air Burn By-Law.

Additionally, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the Township of Huron-Kinloss also lifted its partial burn ban.

As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, West Grey also lifted its burn ban.

At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Inter Township Fire Department in Georgian Bluffs lifted the fire ban in that area.

Residents everywhere are reminded that if you are planning to burn:

  • Always check the current fire rating before lighting a fire

  • Keep your fire small, supervised, and controlled

  • Have water, a shovel, or a fire extinguisher nearby at all times

  • Never leave a fire unattended
