Missing Bruce County senior found dead

An elderly woman missing in the Pike Bay-area of Bruce County since last Friday has been found.

Grey Bruce OPP confirmed late Thursday that, with the assistance of OPP aviation unit, marine, and canine units, West Region emergency response team, and Neyaashiinigmiing Police Service, the 87-year-old woman had been located, deceased.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious, and no foul play is suspected," police said in a statement.

Thanks was extended to everyone who shared the police appeal for assistance or provided information that aided in the search.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
