Elderly pedestrian killed in Seaforth collision

A 77-year-old pedestrian has died in a collision in Seaforth.

Emergency crews were called to Main Street near Highway 8 just before 7 a.m. on Friday after a pickup truck hit a person who was walking in the area. Upon arrival, the pedestrian, identified as a 77-year-old man from Huron East, was found suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup stayed on scene, Huron OPP said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Main Street North and South, John Street, James Street, Victoria Street, William Street West, and Huron Road off Highway 8 were closed for an investigation, but opened about 2 p.m. Friday.
