SVCA to hold office hours in Huron-Kinloss

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) is making it easier for Huron-Kinloss residents to connect with staff by offering local office hours as part of a new pilot project.

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, SVCA representatives will be available at the Township of Huron-Kinloss Administrative Office, located at 21 Queen Street in Ripley, to answer questions and provide guidance. The office hours will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The SVCA is responsible for regulating development and alterations within regulated areas such as watercourses, wetlands, floodplains, steep slopes, shorelines, and erosion-prone lands. During the session, staff will help property owners understand how SVCA’s planning and regulation policies apply to development activities or projects near these sensitive areas. Residents will also be able to learn whether their property falls within a regulated or screening area by using the SVCA’s online mapping tool, and they can receive guidance on the authority’s permit application process.

SVCA staff can also provide comments on Planning Act applications, such as severances or zoning by-law amendments, with the final approvals remaining the responsibility of the municipality. While residents are always welcome to visit the SVCA’s main office in Formosa, these local office hours are intended to make staff more accessible to property owners in Huron-Kinloss.

Appointments are encouraged to ensure timely assistance, but walk-ins will also be accepted. To book an appointment, residents can contact Brandi Walter, Planning Coordinator, at 519-364-1255 ext. 236 or by email at b.walter@svca.on.ca.

More information and access to the SVCA’s online mapping tool can be found at www.saugeenconservation.ca.
