Local kids donate profits from lemonade stand to new Mount Forest pool

Three young entrepreneurs made a very generous donation towards a new pool for Mount Forest recently.

Over the summer, the Weber kids, 7-year-old Erinn, 5-year-old Robin and 3-year-old Teddy, operated a lemonade stand. Their parents Sue and Merle helped the kids get the stand built and operating.

The kids ran the lemonade stand on Saturday, August 23, at the corner of Wellington Road 6 and Highway 89. They sold lemonade alongside baked goods throughout the day.

Sue explained that the kids all swim in Arthur and often ask about swimming in Mount Forest. With the Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee fundraising for a new pool, the kids decided to donate all their lemonade stand proceeds to the project.

On August 26, Erinn, Robin and Teddy presented their donation of $500 to the pool committee.

"On behalf of the Committee, I would like to thank Erinn, Robin and Teddy for their amazing donation of $500 toward the new Mount Forest pool," said Sherry Burke, chair of the Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee. "Their hard work in building and operating this lemonade stand is commendable, and for them to donate the proceeds of their hard work to the new pool is amazing. Thank you for supporting our project and thank you to everyone in the community who supported these youngsters in their fundraiser."

The new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool will be located on Princess Street, adjacent to the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex. The approximately $5.3 million project has a community fundraising goal of $2.5 million. Once 80 per cent of the fundraising target has been met, next steps in the construction of the new outdoor pool will begin. To date, more than $1,050,000 has been raised.
