One person charged following break-ins at two Mildmay businesses

A 21-year-old from Mildmay is facing numerous charges after recent break-ins at two Mildmay businesses.

According to South Bruce OPP, on August 27, officers received a report of two overnight break-and-enter thefts at two adjacent businesses along Highway 9 in Mildmay.

Police went to the scene and found damage caused by the break-ins and discovered that numerous items were taken from the businesses.

A little while after police left the scene, an individual showed up at the business locations wearing items that had been taken during the break-ins. Officers were called back to the scene and arrested the individual.

As a result, a 21-year-old from Mildmay now faces two counts of break-and-enter, as well as a charge of possession of property obtained by crime and fail to comply with probation.

The accused is set to appear at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice on October 1, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
