Health unit asking for assistance following dog bite in Hanover

After a dog biting incident in Hanover, Grey Bruce Public Health (GBPH) is asking for assistance in identifying the dog.

According to GBPH, on August 27 at 12:30 p.m., a woman was bitten by a dog described as a white/grey shih tzu in Hanover.

The dog was being walked at the time by a woman with black hair. The victim stated that when she bent down to pick up her daughter, the dog bit her hand.

Staff at Grey Bruce Public Health need to confirm the dog involved in this biting incident is not infectious with rabies.

By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
