Watermain replacement work set to begin in Owen Sound

The City of Owen Sound is alerting motorists to upcoming traffic delays as construction gets underway on a major watermain replacement project.

Work will begin Monday, September 8 in the area of East Bayshore Road and 32nd Street East. The project will cover the intersection of East Bayshore and 32nd, extend along 32nd Street East to 9th Avenue East, and include a small portion of 9th Avenue at 32nd.

While no full road closures are planned, drivers can expect lane reductions and some delays until mid-November, when the project is scheduled for completion.

The total approved budget for the project is $1,722,710 and is funded through Ontario’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund. Bridge Excavating has been contracted to oversee and complete the work.

City officials are advising motorists to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time while the project is underway.
