Suspect arrested after vehicle break-ins and incidents spanning three year period in Chesley

South Bruce OPP have arrested and charged a Chesley man following incidents spanning a three year period.

On August 19, 2025, police received a report claiming that an individual was entering vehicles at night in Chesley. While investigating that report, officers learned of other incidents involving the same alleged suspect over the last three years.

Investigators spoke to a number of residents and gained enough evidence to arrest the suspect on several different charges. On August 31, the suspect was arrested after a lengthy standoff with police that brought a large police presence to a residence along 1st Avenue North in Chesley.

Members of the South Bruce OPP, OPP Canine, Crisis Negotiators, and the West Region Emergency Response Team were involved.

As a result, a 31-year-old Chesley man has been charged with a list of charges that includes three counts of trespass at night, 2 counts of uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held for a bail hearing on August 31 and subsequently remanded into custody.
