Teen charged in June crash that sent two to hospital

A 17-year-old driver has been charged in relation to a serious crash southeast of Listowel that sent two people to hospital in June.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Sideroad 18 and 6th Line in Mapleton Township around 3:15 p.m. on June 15 where two vehicles had collided.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital, one with major non-life threatening injuries and the other with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Wellington OPP, along with the traffic incident management and enforcement team, probed the cause of the crash, alleging one of the vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign, hitting the other vehicle.

A 17-year-old from Wallenstein was arrested last week. The teen is charged with careless driving causing bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police continue to ask anyone who has information about this collision, who has yet to speak with investigators, to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
