Update: Hwy 4 in South Huron reopens after fatal collision

An 36-year-old of Ayr is dead and a 31-year-old of Goderich was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious two-vehicle collision in South Huron Saturday morning.

Emergency services responded to a call at the intersection of Hwy 4 and Huron Park Road in Centralia around 5:30 a.m. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger van. According to police, both victims were in the van.

Hwy 4 from Crediton Road to Mount Carmel Drive was closed but has reopened.

The Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team is assisting the Huron County OPP with the investigation.

No charges have been laid at this time.
