Teen charged in rollover that left vehicle upside down in Lake Huron

A rollover crash that saw a vehicle come to rest on its roof in the water of Lake Huron earlier this month has led to a dangerous driving charge against a 16-year-old.

Emergency crews were called about a four-door sedan that had left the west end of Amberley Road in Ashfield–Colborne–Wawanosh and rolled into Lake Huron around 11:55 p.m. on September 14. When first responders arrived they found the car on its roof, roughly ten metres from shore.

The two people who had been inside managed to escape without physical injury.

Following an investigation, a 16-year-old from Arthur has been charged with dangerous driving, Huron OPP announced on Wednesday. The teen has been released from custody and will appear in Goderich court in relation to the charge on November 13.

The teen's name is not being released due to their age, police said.
