Two dead in collision with tractor

Two people are dead after a collision involving a tractor and a pickup truck on Friday night in Mapleton.

Emergency services responded to a call along Eighth Line outside of Drayton around 9:30 p.m.

According to Wellington County OPP, both the occupants of the pickup truck, a 32-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman from Drayton, were pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the farm tractor was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Eighth Line was closed between Sideroad 17 and 19 for several hours as police investigated, but the road was reopened around 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
