Suspect arrested in indecent acts near school, gymnastics facility

A suspect has been arrested in connection with what Hanover police called "troubling incidents" near a school and a gymnastics training facility.

On October 2, police were called about a man who was said to be watching young girls near Hanover Heights Public School and Hanover Aerial Gymnastics.

According to police, the man was driving erratically and had committed an indecent act.

The next day, police arrested a 25-year-old man from Walkerton during a traffic stop in Hanover.

"We would also like to thank those citizens who registered their surveillance cameras on Camsafe.ca, as their footage played a role in this investigation and the timely arrest of this suspect," said Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll.

The man is charged with committing an indecent act, dangerous operation of a vehicle, stunt driving, and four counts of criminal harassment. He is being held in custody after appearing in court for a bail hearing.

"The investigation remains ongoing, and police believe there may be related incidents in the Town of Hanover and other jurisdictions. Hanover Police urge parents to speak with their children about safety and report any suspicious activity," police said in a statement issued Sunday.
